- Hotel overnight stays increased by 11.3% in April 28/05/2025Overnight stays at hotels in Iceland in April were roughly 369,000, or approximately 11.3% more than in 2024 when they were nearly 332,000, according to preliminary data from Statistics Iceland.
- Tourism short-term indicators in May 15/05/2025Employment in the tourism industry in Iceland was 29,047 in March 2025, a decrease of 2% compared with March last year. During the 12-month period from April 2024 to March 2025, an average of 31,410 individuals worked in the tourism industry compared with 31,681 in the previous 12-month period.
- Hotel overnight stays decreased by 3.4% in March 30/04/2025Overnight stays at hotels in Iceland in March were nearly 420,000 or approximately 3.4% fewer than in 2024 when they were nearly 435,000. Overnight stays decreased most in the Capital region (-6.3%) and the South (-6.6%). A 3.2% decrease was also recorded in the West and Westfjords.

- Decrease in export of fisheries products in 2024 24/06/2025Just over 624 thousand tonnes of marine products were exported in 2024, which is approximately 60 thousand tonnes less than in 2023. This change is primarily due to reduced capelin catches.
- Total catch in May was 68 thousand tonnes 16/06/2025The Icelandic catch amounted to 68 thousand tonnes in May 2025, which is 22% less than in May 2024. Demersal catch decreased by 7% between years and was 42 thousand tonnes.
- Landed catch in April was 136 thousand tonnes 15/05/2025The Icelandic catch amounted to 136.3 thousand tonnes in April 2025, which is 12% less than in April 2024. Demersal catch decreased by 1% between years and was 42.3 thousand tonnes.
- Decrease in catch value for February 30/04/2025The value of catch in February 2025 was 14.9 billion ISK which is 12% less than in February 2024. The value of demersal fish was reduced by 15% and was 12.9 billion ISK, while the value of pelagic fish catch decreased by 89% compared with February 2024 and was 1.7 billion ISK.
- Landed catch in March increased by 9% 16/04/2025The Icelandic catch amounted to almost 66 thousand tonnes, which is 9% more than in March 2024. Demersal catch increased by 23% between years and was 48.6 thousand tonnes in March 2025.

The trade deficit in April was therefore 53.9 billion ISK (53,4 billion ISK).
